Asalamu Aliakum

Yes it is Alhumdulilah.

The survey that says it only are 1.2 % are from the early 90's and its counting the whole state of Pennsylvania. Many muslims dont make up Pennsylvania but a lot make up Philadelphia. Many more have came since then. Many people taking shahadah too. Like what the other guy said, the germantown neighborhood located in North Philadelphia is predominately Muslim. I work in a Muslim store here in Philadelphia and we have many costumers that are Muslim from all over the city. West Philadelphia has a good population of them too. Many Muslim are moving to the Northeast part of Philadelphia which use to have almost no Muslims. Over the years many Muslims came to to NE part and you can tell because recently a few mosque opened up and your starting to see many halal businesses. I would say at least 20 - 30 percent of Philadelphia is Muslim. My family is very active with the Muslim community and and trust me, its about 20 - 30 % because my family knows a lot of the Muslim communities because we own a few halal markets and we go to Masjids all over the city.

There's a lot of Muslim students in the city, especially in the college areas of West Philly (Drexel, UPenn, USP). I live outside the city, went to HS outside the city, and now college, and I know a lot of Muslim kids.

If they're not now there, they will be once housing prices decline. They come in droves, and they are not easily stopped. They could just as easily buy a neighborhood as a house, since they prefer to live in close proximity, and they work closely together.
