Question:
How to ride Septa from Newark, DE to PHL airport?

I already went to their site and it looks like I can ride the R2 and then take the 37 bus to get from Newark, DE to the airport. I could also ride the R2 then the R1 to get to the airport. It looks like taking the bus to the airport is faster and cheaper, any reason I shouldn't take the bus over taking the train?

However, on the way back the site tells me there are no routes. Shouldn't I be able to ride the R1 out of the airport and transfer over to the R2 to get back to Newark,DE? (Looks like I should be able to do this at the University City station)

Also I don't really get the fares, there are advanced sales and on board sales. Does the Newark, DE station have a ticket machine or ticket counter for me to purchase at "advanced" sale?

Thanks

That's probably because the R2 doesn't go to Newark on weekends.

Taking the R2 to Eddystone and catching the 37 bus is usually a shorter trip than going all the way into Center City and then heading back south. The only thing is that some people just hate taking the bus.

On weekends, you'll have to go to Wilmington (and only a few trains go that far). At the Wilmington station, you'll have to catch the DART First State 6 bus to Newark, although the last bus on Saturday is at 7:24 and Sunday is at 4:54.

And SEPTA does have a ticket office open in Newark weekdays from 6am to 10am.

Here's the R2 weekday schedule

There aren't a lot of trains out to Newark, DE so that's probably why you're being told that there was no schedule. There are more to Wilmington. Is there any way Wilmington can work for you?

I didn't know about the bus. The R1 train is easy and as you say you can connect with the R2 at University City or 30th Street.

I don't know whether Newark has a ticket counter. SEPTA does charge more if you buy your ticket on the train if there is a ticket counter available. But if there isn't, I don't think they'll add the surcharge.
