Is West Philly dangerous at all?

I'm visiting with friends in this area. They don't have cars and say they've never had any problems here.

Out to about 48th street on and near the Penn campus is pretty OK. No area of the city is perfectly safe but that part of the city is not bad.

Philly is bad but its not as bad as other big city worst places to go are South west and north Philly west Philly is bad round 52 and Market and places like that but the more west you go the better it looks i live in Overbrook park its ok not alot of crime alot of street cops now days thank god just don't go in south west or north Philly most shooting are there sad to say it but all of the crimes in the city are from black people yup I'm black and i think so. man we need to change good thing 'm moving and going to college soon hope i can make it outta here

university city is fine, but above 45th -ish is a crappy part of the city... be careful! If you think I am not telling the truth, just watch the local Philly news tonight...
